We met with the Harris side of the family at a park to celebrate father's day. David and Sharilee were both leaving Sunday and so we wanted to make sure we were able to celebrate with them. The park was windy but fun and pretty uneventful...until it was time to leave. Ian had been playing with my keys several times that night but I would take them away and put them in my purse. I was busy having some adult conversation with my sister-in-laws when the kids all came running up to tell me Ian was in the car. I thought, no big deal, it's not too hot and I won't let him stay in too long. I continued talking and several more people let me know he was in the car. I brushed them off thinking the same thing...I'll get him in a minute. It wasn't long before Millie came running over saying that Ian was in the car...and so were the keys! After 20 or so minutes of trying to coax him out I noticed that he was starting to sweat and he was red. The whole family had gathered around at this point and Ian was loving all the attention. There were several times he'd put his hand on the lock but he couldn't figure out how to pull it up. Adam was home playing soccer in the backyard with the boys but even if I could get a hold of him he didn't have the other set of keys; they were at Michelle's house in Orem and she was with us at the park! John Jay spotted a police car parked at a home nearby so he went over there. The officer was not home but his wife called dispatch for us. Another 20 or so minutes and the officer arrived and had him out in less than 5. Overall I think he was in there an hour or so and he was very hot and sweaty when he came out. Everyone kept commenting how calm I was but truth be told, even though I do things like this all the time I was a little stressed. We left and headed home but we were completely out of gas so I stopped to fill up. Wouldn't you know it? The security system that was triggered by the officer getting Ian out shut the car down. There I sat at the gas station pumps with a car that wouldn't start and no one to call for help. Luckily, after 20 mins and a quick prayer, the car started. Later when Adam asked me why I was so late it took everything I had not to cry. I just felt so overwhelmed...with stress, with gratitutude and with love. Despite these little challenges I am extremely blessed.

Holy cow, Ang. What an adventure. It's a good thing someone is looking out for you. But I can see how it wouldn't take much to push all those tears over the edge. I can't believe you held it together.
