Staples, police, meltdowns and floods.

Yep, that about sums up my weekend. Don't worry, it's a bit long but it's the abbridged version! So Friday, Adam and his brother David spend the entire day hand scraping our hardwood floor. It was a little difficult being displaced but I did my best to keep the kids out of the way. By about 6 they were ready to stain it so I took the 3 youngest and went to Walmart. (Matthais was at his very first scout camp out! In the snow! Yikes!) Well, ya all know how much I love Walmart. Seriously the last three times I've been there I've left in tears. But, I had a few things to return and I had a lot of time to keep the kids occupied. I'm returning things and talking to an old neighbor and Ian and Owen are climbing all over the application center (computer and chair) when Owen falls and hits his head on the wall. I pick him up, console him do a quick scan of his head and keep talking. A few minutes later, I feel blood. I missed a gash on the back of his head. It wasn't very big but it was really deep. Walmart makes me fill out some paperwork and then I rush him to the instacare. They don't take my insurance so I'm off to the pediatrician on call. I still have all three littles since Adam is occupied.Ian is having a hard time watching Owen bleed and they finally have someone come and get him. A couple hours and 2 staple later we head home.

I can't get a good picture of the staples but you get the idea. First bad mommy moment of the weekend.
On Saturday Adam started the polyurethane on the floor and we had to be out of the house all day. My mom watched the youngest kids for me for a few hours. When I went to pick them up my mom had had it with Ian. He was kicking the door and crying. Welcome to my world! I took Ian out to the van and to prevent him from climbing all over the drivers seat with his wet shoes (he likes to get in through the driver door) I reached over and locked the doors. I got him in a buckled him up and went to get the rest of the kids. As soon as I shut the side door it locked. There is Ian locked inside with my purse and my keys and he can't unlock it. He doesn't know how. We tried to tell him how and tried to show him the buttons but he couldn't figure it out. So, my mom called the police. Once the police officer arrived Ian LOST it. He totally started freaking out, he thought the police officer was here for him. He was climbing all over the seats, crying, panicking and pounding on the windows. I lost it. I couldn't handle watching him that scared. As soon as the door was unlocked he jumped out and ran in my mom's house. He just watched out the door and wouldn't leave until the officer drove away.

Bad mommy moment #2
The rest of Saturday was hard because I didn't really have anywhere to go or anything to do but we couldn't be home. We drove around a lot and finally ended up at Adam's parents house which is where we were sleeping that night. Going to any one's house is such a chore these days. Ian is so hard to take anywhere so I wasn't really looking forward to it. We went to a family party at 5:30 and I just zoned out. I'm sure it looked like I didn't care what was going on but I was on overload.

Adam came back to the house and put another coat of sealer on the floor. Sunday we woke up and hustled to get ready and to church. The weather was nasty and the drive from Saratoga Springs was rough. Church was a nightmare. Owen was throwing major tantrums. I sat in the foyer almost the whole meeting. Then during RS they brought him to me because he had had an accident. I brought him home, changed him and went to the storage room for a box of mac and cheese. That is when I discovered this...

And this...

The carpet is ruined. So now, not only is my front room and dining room in the garage, so is Matthais's room and the toy room. Oi vey. It was a really crappy weekend. Now I have to find somewhere to go today while they put on the last coat of sealer on. I don't have any idea where but, I guess I'll figure it out.

Wow, what a weekend! So what caused the flooding? I'm so sorry! You are welcome to come here today! I'll even get you the biggest diet coke ever and make you some sort of chocolatey dessert! It's so hard when you're normal routine is messed up (especially for Ian) and you cant' go where you normally would. At least you'll have a gorgeous floor when this is all done! And your hopes for remodeling might just continue.

I'm so sorry your weekend was so rough. You are not a bad mom, though. Feel free to come on over here if you need a place to crash for a while.

Oh Angi! You are not a bad mom! You are a very special mom who the Lord knew could handle a special boy. You amaze me. I wish I would have known on Sunday that you needed help - next time ask!

Wow, who knew life would be so dramatic! Your blog is so interesting and it's just your daily life! Maybe you should be on a reality show...
Staples suck, but they come out a lot better than stitches. I had 39 of them in my head once. Luckily I'm not going bald like the rest of the high school gang, I'm sure the scars look like Frankenstein.
