Last night we had a little get together up the canyon with some of Adam's siblings. We were discussing our plans for today (the girls going to dinner and Bunco). Ian has a Dr. Appointment in SLC and I told them the soonest I could be there was 6:00. I didn't think I was being unreasonable because we usually don't start Bunco until 6:30 or 7:00. Well, they decided to start at 5:30. I can't even begin to explain how badly that hurt. Immediately the tears started to roll. In fact...they are still flowing. In their defense, their mom wanted to start early (5:00) so she could get home to be to the temple the next morning. I know they were just trying to find common ground but I really felt like I was purposely being excluded. In reality, there was so much building up, leading to this point that made the tears flow. This was merely the trigger. I feel SO alone. To clarify, I know that I am surrounded by loving, caring people that would do anything for me in a heartbeat. What I really, really need? A good friend. One who wants to listen to me. One who wants to be with me. Most of the time I find that my friendships are very one-sided. I generally get more attached to people then they do to me. Ever heard the saying "don't make someone a priority if they only make you an option"? I feel like every one's option. Oh well. Somehow I need to pull it all together to show up at Bunco tonight not totally sobbing. I've been thinking all morning that maybe I should just skip it all together even though I could really, really use a night out.

I heeded some of the advice given and made the kids put away the millions of dishes I washed by hand. (ok, I exagerate) Adam also came home and cracked the whip and made them clean the family room. After Adam took the kids out to his moms and I worked, worked, worked. Sadly there is still lots and lots of laundry and lots and lots of organizing to do. Overall it looks a lot better and I feel a lot better. It's amazing what that does for your mood! I honestly don't know how why I let it get this way. I know it has a lot to do with the depression I've had. I've never been the best housekeeper anyway but I feel like it's really gotten worse over the last year or so. I've tried a couple of programs (motivated moms, flylady) and they SHOULD keep me caught up but...
Anyway, I'm starting again. I'm going to spend the day working hard to get the house clean so that it's that much easier to keep up with. Wish me luck?

and I don't think I have a clean towel in the house. I probably have 10 or so loads of laundry to do. My dishwasher is useless. I have a whole load of dishes that needs to be washed again...by hand. Oh, and the sink is full too. The whole entire house is a disaster. Why can't I stay on top of it??? It embarrassing and really it's not from lack of trying. Most days I just give up. I checked into having someone come in and help me. I had heard she didn't charge much so I asked. Yep, that's not gonna happen. I know my older kids can help, and they do, when I scream and yell and threaten. I need to figure out a better system. So, I'm curious. How do YOU get it all done? How do YOU stay on top of it all? I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of dirt and chaos. I need someone to throw me some rope....

It's funny...I kind of laughed the first time we called this camp out a "reunion". After all, it was just my aunts and uncles and cousins; people I've known all my life. This year I really realized it was a reunion as I hadn't seen many of them since the last camp out. When I was younger the family would often camp in this canyon although I didn't usually go. This is the third year we've done it and I really hope it will continue. I have a lot of fun reconnecting with my family and giving my kids a chance to get to know relatives we don't see very often. I was a little worried about this year as Ian's behavior has taken a turn but he did pretty good. The last day was a little rough and I was glad we were leaving. Adam does a fish-a-thon during the camp out. Every chance he gets he fishes. I am happy to let him do so but this year he kept driving off with our food and other essential items in the Tahoe. I felt like I was constantly mooching off of family members for things that I brought but were in the Tahoe. Also, in my stress to make sure I had enough food and activities for the kids I forgot to buy some diet coke. GASP! Luckily my Aunt is a diet coke drinker and she shared. She also sent my Uncle to get me some and my dad also brought some up for me. Talk about rallying behind a girl! They were all a great help. I also got addicted to a new game called Blockus. It was a lot of fun and even Owen could play (although he really didn't get it). I opted out of the horseshoe contest again this year but maybe I'll practice all year and really surprise everyone next year! Here are some of the highlights...(don't mind the fingerprint on the lens that makes some of the pictures a bit blurry...)
